Professional:
Admitted to practice in New Hampshire, 1977, the District of Columbia,
1980, and the U.S. Supreme Court, 1981. Mr. Scheer served as an Assistant
Attorney General, State of New Hampshire, 1979-1985, and as a member of
the New Hampshire Board of Bar Examiners, 1984-1990.
He has represented doctors, hospitals and Fortune Five Hundred
companies in major litigation in all counties in the state. As an
Assistant Attorney general, Mr. Scheer represented the State of New
Hampshire in the trial of U.S.A. v. Ottati and Goss, Inc., et. al.,
which was one of the first CERCLA cases tried in the country and was the
longest civil trial in the State of New Hampshire. Mr. Scheer has also
argued before the United States Supreme Court, representing New Hampshire
in the case of White v. Department of Employment Security. Since
entering private practice, Mr. Scheer has concentrated on the defense of
products liability and medical malpractice litigation. Representative
clients include Black and Decker, Honeywell, Ford Motor Company, Ingersoll
Rand, Ciba Geigy, Columbia/HCA, and numerous New Hampshire based doctors,
hospitals and medical providers.
He is the firm’s contact member for the American Law Firm Association
(ALFA®), and is a Member of the New Hampshire and American Bar
Associations.
Other Activities:
Mr. Scheer served as a Legal/Legislative Assistant to the late U.S.
Senator Thomas J. McIntyre, 1975-1979.
