In the 2010 Legislative Session, the New Hampshire House of Representatives and Senate introduced several bills that, if passed, will impact New Hampshire special educators. These bills include: House Bill (HB) 1523, which makes substantial revisions to New Hampshire’s Pupil Safety and Violence Prevention Act, RSA 193-F, including the addition of “cyberbullying”; Senate Bill (SB) 396, pertaining to the use of restraints and seclusion in public and private schools; H.R. 4247, the “Keeping All Students Safe Act,” which is currently pending before the United States Congress and which pertains to the use of restraints and seclusion in the school setting; SB 520, which seeks to clarify which district is liable for special education costs when a student attends a public school in a district in which he/she does not reside, and several other bills.
